About Redmoon Software

Who we are

Redmoon Software is a small, profitable software company based in Wellington, New Zealand. We’ve been on the Atlassian Marketplace since 2014, building Jira apps that fix the gaps the platform leaves open in compliance, security, and efficiency.

Today our nine apps reach 250,000+ Jira users worldwide. We’re an Atlassian Gold Partner, with apps on both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center across customers ranging from regulated-industry enterprises to scrappy startup teams.

Founder

Paul Clark

Paul Clark founded Redmoon Software and continues to lead it from Wellington. He writes most of the code, answers most of the support tickets, and is the person on the other end when you book a demo. That’s how a small, focused vendor can ship the kind of long-tail product features (Cascading Templates, JQL bulk-update, the Watch It batching engine, per-field Visible-To groups) that bigger vendors struggle to justify.

Paul is also the author of paulclark10x.com — a public log of growing Redmoon from $519K to a $5.2M run rate over two years, with no editing or curation of the failures along the way. The same transparency we bring to that project is how we run the company.

“Great support is a core belief of mine, not a policy page. When things break we fix them fast, and we talk to customers like people.”
— Paul Clark, Founder

What we make

Nine Jira apps, grouped into three pillars:

Compliance

  • Comment History — audit-grade trail of every comment edit and deletion
  • Document Vault — secure attachment repository with per-issue access control
  • Custom Fields — typed, validated custom fields with per-field security and JQL search

Security

Efficiency

  • STM Issue Templates — reusable Jira issue templates with executors and JQL bulk operations
  • STM Lite — the lightweight, project-scoped version of STM
  • Watch It — custom notifications, JQL-based watcher rules, timed alerts, webhook integrations
  • Move It — rule-based, automatic, cross-project issue movement

All apps are listed on the Atlassian Marketplace and come with a free trial.

How we work

A small, focused team has consequences worth being explicit about:

  • We talk to customers directly. Support requests reach the people who wrote the code, not a tier-1 triage queue. Most fixes ship in hours or days, not quarters.
  • We listen, and we ship. Most of the differentiating features in our apps (Cascading Templates, Update Templates, JQL bulk-create, executor scopes, batching, audit logs) came from customer requests over the years. Each one started as a specific real-world need.
  • We’re profitable, independent, and not for sale. Redmoon is wholly owned and runs on its own revenue. We’re not chasing venture capital or grooming for an exit. That means our roadmap follows customer value, not the timetable of an investor.
  • We’re transparent about what we’re not. Each product page has a Limitations section. The Cloud Security Statement tells you exactly which apps run where, including the ones still on transitional architectures we’re migrating off.

Where we’re going

Three threads of work in 2026:

  1. Forge migration. The remaining transitional Cloud apps (STM, Custom Fields, Watch It) are moving onto fully Forge-native storage and processing, so all data stays inside your Atlassian Cloud site.
  2. New Cloud editions. Comment Security Default — currently Data Center only — is in active development for Jira Cloud as a Forge-native app, expected on the Marketplace shortly.
  3. Content and tooling for Jira admins. We’re building out free resources alongside the products: the Jira Issue Templates library, the Jira Glossary, and product-specific persona guides for compliance teams, security teams, support teams, and others.

Trust signals

  • Atlassian Gold Partner.
  • On the Marketplace since 2014 — over a decade of continuous delivery.
  • 4.7 / 5 average rating across the portfolio.
  • Reaching 250,000+ Jira users across Cloud and Data Center customers.
  • Wellington, New Zealand — our team is in one timezone, with all data subject to NZ data-protection law. The Forge-native apps’ data also stays inside your own Atlassian Cloud site.
